William Winn was a property developer from Bow, Middlesex, who bought the Westwood Park estate in 1873. A few years later he had the house demolished and the land sold off for housing development. Winn did not live in Southampton; his solicitors, Paris, Smith and Randall, carried out his instructions and acted for him in the town. Westwood Road and Winn Road were built on the land, Winn Road being named after him.
