White’s Shipyard was situated on the Itchen River at Hazel Road, Woolston. The business was founded by two brothers named White in c.1892. They made a range of small ships including ferries, yachts and minesweepers, and also carried out ship repair work. The yard closed down in the early 1960s. It had no connection with the shipbuilding firm of J. Samuel White of Cowes.
