West Street
The modern name for the short curved street leading from High Street to French Street. In 1454 it was anonymous but quite distinct from French Street. Later (perhaps from Tudor times) it was called Butcher’s Row. The actual junction with High Street was known at least from the late 13th century as New Corner.
