Thunres Ley
A bound in the Millbrook land charters of 956 and 1045. It has been variously identified, but could conceivably represent the cut-thorn mound and the Shire-ley of Shirley. The name designates a clearing dedicated to Thor and such a spot was prone to become a moot place persisting into Christian times.
