The Terrace House estate extended over 23 acres from Devonshire Road to Burlington Road in the Polygon area, with the house itself standing on the site of the present Baptist church in Devonshire Road. The house was in a Regency style and similar to the houses in Carlton Crescent. From 1860 it was the home of Charles Arthur Day of the shipbuilding firm Day, Summers and Co. The house and estate were sold off in 1906 for development.
