Swordwell
Swordwell (or Swerdwell) is a medieval name for Payland (the triangle between what are now London Road, Brunswick Place, St. Mary's Road and Bellevue Terrace), given on account of the legendary discovery of a well there by means of a soldier's sword striking the earth.
