St Jude's Church, Shirley
St Jude’s parish was carved out of Shirley parish in 1951 and a temporary church set up in Warren Avenue, Shirley Warren in 1952. The permanent church was built in Warren Avenue in 1956 by architects Gutteridge & Gutteridge. It was the first parish church to be built in Southampton for 30 years. Church of England services ceased in c.2010 and the church has been leased to other religious groups. In 2015 plans to develop the site for housing were opposed by local residents (see clipping 2 below).
