Sidney House (or Cottage)
This house was situated on the south east side of Freemantle Common Road near the junction with Peartree Avenue. It was the Victorian successor to Sidney Farm, and was for many years occupied by the Ede family. In the 20th century it was acquired by Southampton Corporation and converted into a hospital, the grounds being used as a nursery. It was badly damaged during World War Two and demolished in 1959 (see clipping below).
