Shirley Methodist Church
Built in 1843, this was the first Wesleyan Methodist chapel in Shirley (image below). It was situated on the west side of Church Street opposite Milner Street, and . By 1920 the church was too small for its congregation and a new Methodist church was built in St. James’s Road. The original church was then taken over by the Salvation Army, who used it as a meeting hall until 1969 when it was demolished.
