Pilgrim's Pit
This feature, dating back to at least the 13th century, was a well on the south side of Simnel Street very close to the line of the later town wall. It was on God's House property so presumably lay just east of the lane that ran from the western shore to the castle postern. The name was later apparently transferred to the plot of ground containing the well.
