Originally Peartree National Schools, the school, which stands on Peartree Road opposite Jesus Chapel, was built in 1848-49 as a memorial to the Reverend William Lewis Davies, the former incumbent of Jesus Chapel. It later became part of Woolston Secondary School, but by 1978 was thought to be unsuitable for the needs of modern education (see newspaper clipping 1 below). It was finally closed down in July 1989 (see newspaper clipping 2 below). It is now grade II listed and has been converted into private residences
