Panorama Place
Panorama Place is the name given in the 1820s and 1830s to the south side of Winkle Street, adjoining the Sun Hotel and close to Town Quay. A letting advertisement for no.1 Panorama Place in the Hampshire Advertiser, 10 March 1838 reads: "The situation is the most delightful in Southampton, commanding an uninterrupted view of the whole of Southampton Water". The artist Philip Augustus Gaugin lived here in 1827.
