Palmerston House is a block of flats with shops at the ground level situated on the west side of Queensway just south of East Street. The block, built in the 1960s, was designed by City Architect Leon Berger. According to David Lloyd (Buildings of England: Hampshire and the I.O.W.) it was designed to blend in rather than contrast with the Holy Rood flats opposite, but not succeeding.
