Obelisk Road in Woolston runs from Victoria Road to Archery Grove and was developed in the late 19th century. It was named after the obelisk-shaped memorial built to the memory of the Whig politician Charles James Fox by his friend William Chamberlayne of Weston Grove estate in 1810. The memorial stands in nearby Mayfield Park.
