This bank, situated at 129 High Street on the corner of High Street and St Michael’s Street, was built by architect John Gibson in an Italianate style in 1867. Formerly the National Provincial Bank and now a restaurant, it was described by David Lloyd (Buildings of England: Hampshire and the I.O.W. ) as the best mid-Victorian commercial building in the city. It is Grade II* listed.
