Eleanor Morris was a councillor for Woolston ward in the 1920s and very active in good causes, particularly maternity and child welfare matters. She was a life governor of both the Royal South Hants and Southampton Hospitals. She died in 1929 and in 1930 a commemorative drinking fountain was erected in her honour on the Archery Ground in Woolston.
