This was a substantial mid-19th century residence near the junction of Vanguard Road and Townhill Way, Bitterne. In the 19th century it was owned by Richard Glass, a pioneer of submarine cables, and from 1893 by the Sholto-Douglas family. The estate was sold for redevelopment in 1919 and the house demolished soon after. The lodge to the estate still stands on the corner of West End Road and Hood Road.
