Longmore Avenue and Crescent
These Woolston streets, built in the 1930s, commemorate Surgeon-General Sir Thomas Longmore who for many years lived at the Paddock, a large country house in Woolston, the carriage drive of which was incorporated into Longmore Avenue. Sir Thomas died in 1895 but his widow Lady Longmore continued to live at the Paddock until her death in 1935.
