The building stands on the north corner of London Road and Carlton Crescent and was originally known as 1 Carlton Crescent. Like the other Regency-style buildings in Carlton Crescent it was built between 1825 and 1840. For many years it housed a branch of the National Provincial Bank of England (later National Westminster Bank) and is now (2017) occupied by a hi-fi shop.
