Inner Ring Road
A post-war development (c 1950-60) by which additional north-south traffic approaches were enabled to enter the lower town. The new roads involved were Queen's Way and Castle Way linked at the south end by extending Briton Street. The effect was to destroy a street pattern, intact since the Norman Conquest.
