Hallett Close was named after William Hallett who bought Townhill Park estate in 1809 and subsequently became one of the largest land owners in the area. He had a number of residences, including Candy’s Farm, Allington as well as at Townhill. He was a friend of William Cobbett and was mentioned in Rural Rides.
