Gurney, Russell
Russell Gurney (1804-1878) was a QC who represented Southampton in parliament as a Conservative from 1865 until his death. He was also vice-chairman of the Royal Mail steamship company and sat on numerous royal commissions. Gurney Road in Shirley was named after him.
