The politician John Fuller was born at North Stoneham in 1757 the son of Henry Fuller, rector of North Stoneham Church. His family had an estate in Sussex which he inherited in 1777 together with a large fortune and property in the West Indies. Although he spent most of his free time on his Sussex estate, he was MP for Southampton from 1780 to 1784.
