This name, which appears frequently in medieval documents, seems to refer to the low-lying district of the Western Esplanade north of the Bargate.

Fulflood Street was apparently an early name for what is now Bargate Street and what used to be Orchard Street. A Rue de Fulflood, mentioned in 1330, and a Strete of the Full Flode in 1478 appear to refer to this street.
