Charles Burgess Fry (1872-1956), better known as C B Fry, was an English polymath; an outstanding sportsman, politician, diplomat, academic, teacher, writer, editor and publisher, who is probably best remembered locally either for his career as a cricketer or as a footballer for Southampton F C. He excelled at most sports representing England at both football and cricket, and in 1923 equalling the world long jump record.
