Four Acres was the land on which Cavendish Grove, at the south-east corner of the Common, was constructed. The old Common balk, which was the north boundary of Four Acres, can still be traced across the site. In the 13th century it was the land of John Chopyn, and bordered on Banister Farm to the west.
