Fountain Place was situated on the west side of Bevois Valley Road (numbers 81 - 89) between Ancasta Road and Forster Road. An interesting feature of this terrace was the three statuettes of children mounted in recesses below roof level. They date from the early 18th century and were probably taken from the fountain at Bevois Mount House. The estate of Bevois Mount House, which was situated to the west of Bevois Valley Road, was sold off for housing in the 1840s, and it is probably then that the statuettes were removed. The houses were demolished in the 1960s but the statuettes were saved. The council intended to put them in one of the museums, but instead they were sold to a guest house in Alma Road, (see Daily Echo 13 November 1968).
