This was an alternative name for the West Gate. The rooms in the tower above the gate were used as a dwelling before the mid-19th century and Florence Stout was presumably a resident. An engraving of the West Gate by Samuel Rawle, c.1807, (image below) clearly shows the upper tower being used as living quarters.
