Mrs Elizabeth Ashby renamed “The Park” this medievalised spelling of Eling when she bought the property in 1895. She owned Ashby’s Eling Brewery, which she had run since her husband’s death in 1876 and had now passed to her son. She herself died in 1898.
The 1901 census shows a Mr Frederick Haddon, gardener, in residence: the census enumerator simply gives the house name as “Eling”
The property became “Dene House” in the early 1900s, before being bought by William Burrough Hill and becoming Bridell Lodge
