This hotel was situated at 14 High Street, on the east side of the street just south of East Street. It dates to the 1840s and is shown on the Town Map of 1845-46. The building, however, may have dated back to the Tudor period; two hitherto unknown Tudor fireplaces were discovered after the hotel was destroyed by bombing in World War Two.
