Consulate House is situated on the north side of Canute Road at its eastern end, opposite Channel Way. It was built by Herbert Collins and the Swaythling Housing Society in 1933 and originally named Utility Flats. It is a four-storey block which originally consisted of 24 flats, most of which were let to casual dock workers. The block was later sold and has been much altered since.
