This was a route between the two mill ponds of Chapel Mill giving access from St Mary's district to the Woolston crossing. It appears not to correspond precisely with any modern road, but it may of have run east of, and parallel with, Endle Street. It originally gave access to, and was named after, the Hermitage of St Mary, Our Lady of Grace, a medieval chapel and place of pilgrimage situated near the end of modern-day Chapel Road.
