Bull Street Gate
All known references are to the early 14th century, i.e. before the town was walled in on its seaward sides. One source mentions the gate of ‘la Bolestret’ with a quay adjoining that extends from this gate to the gate of French Street on the east. Clearly this entry indicates a gate giving access from the south end of Bugle Street to the water front. There appears to be no necessary connection between this early gate and the later postern in the town wall called Wool Gate.
