In the 1890s the Bitterne Park Baptist congregation met in the open air and then at the rear of a carpenter’s shop in Manor Farm Road. In 1900 they erected a corrugated iron church in Oak Tree Road and in 1911 the present church on the corner of Wellington Road and Oak Tree Road was built by local builder William Jupe. The original corrugated iron church was removed to the rear of the new church to become a schoolroom.
