Barnfield was a large country house built c.1800 in the gothic style for the Hulton family who occupied it for over a hundred years until the early 20th century. It is situated on the north side of Weston Lane, almost opposite Holy Trinity Church. In Hampshire at the Opening of the 20th Century (1905) it is described as a comfortable family mansion standing in pretty grounds facing Southampton Water. At some time between 1920 and 1938 the house was converted into flats.
