Aungel, Le
A medieval name for a property, perhaps a hostelry, on the east side of the High Street, or English Street as it then was. It was located in St Lawrence’s parish the fourth plot down from the All Saints parish boundary. It is described in the 1454 terrier as “the capital tenement of Richard Flete, late of William Flete, called the Angel, in which John Yonge now lives”.
