Archery Gardens, Grove and Road, Woolston
Archery Road in Woolston links Swift Road with Weston Lane. Archery Grove originally ran off from it to link with Portsmouth Road. It occupies the north-west bank of the Jurd’s Lake stream and is now a cul-de-sac on the south side of Portsmouth Road. Archery Gardens is a cul-de-sac on the north-west side of Archery Grove. If the name has any significance this must attach to the recreation ground at the junction of Swift Road and Archery Road. This ground is named Archery Ground on the OS 1:2500 map (1867), and is now known locally as The Archeries.
