A private house designed by the famous architect Herbert Collins in 1933 for Mr L G Russell. It was built in an area which was then densely wooded and is now part of Thornhill estate. The design included a sun balcony and a ground floor loggia, reflecting the 1930s vogue for fresh air and healthy living. The result is a combination of modernistic and traditional Collins’ elements. The house is still standing and is now 52 Douglas Crescent.
