An ‘iron church’ mission room, formerly in use in Chandlers Ford, was erected on the south side of Winchester Road, close to modern day Pointout Road, in 1888 and named All Saints Mission Church. Before St Michael’s and All Angels Church was opened in 1910, the rooms were used for religious services, after which they were used for Sunday schools, Girl Guides meetings, community functions, whist drives, billiards and other recreational activities. In 1952, by which time it was known as St Michael’s Parish Hall, the building was destroyed by fire. In 1970, after many years of fundraising, a new All Saints Church was built on a nearby site at the western end of Pointout Road (see clipping below).
